Participatory planning events are happening throughout the City of Victoria. Burnside-Gorge Local Area Plan, North Park Village Street Renewal, Pandora Bike-lane pop-ups and CRD's East Side sewage site planning, are all underway. On May 11th, I was invited by the City and the Greater Victoria Placemaking Network to facilitate a table at the Regenerating Urban Villages Bike Ride and Design Charrette. Summarized notes and site photos are provided below. The term "charrette" speaks to the french cart used by architectural students to transport finished drawings to the final critique. It is now used to reference an intensive design workshop methodology, using teams of participants to develop multiple solutions for the problem at hand.
